Campbeltown Brass

Murray Ralston   1st Baritone

Murray Ralston started playing cornet at the age of 9 but soon changed instrument to horn, before joining Campbeltown Brass when he was 12. A move to 1st baritone when he was 15 followed and Murray held this position until leaving for college at 18. During this time, he played 2nd baritone for 2 years at NYBBS.

He studied for an HND at Agricultural college in Ayr, during which time he practiced with Dunaskin Doon Band to keep his lip in! Spells of work in Renfrew, Aberdeen and the Isle of Man saw his banding take a back seat until he was 24, when he returned back to Campbeltown last year to work with his brother Andrew on the family farm. Murray rejoins the band on 2nd baritone.
