Campbeltown Brass

Ricky Evans   Solo Cornet

Ricky was lucky enough to start playing as his dad was the conductor of the band! Starting off on cornet, he was soon moved onto euphonium to play the top D in Diadem of Gold at a contest!! Moving around most instruments in the band, before eventually settleling on both cornet and trumpet. Ricky was a member of NYBBS and the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra. He also toured Luxembourg with the Young Ambassadors Brass Band of Great Britain in 2005.

At 17 he left Campbeltown to do an 'A' level in Music at Huddersfield Technical, where he received lessons from the great Philip McCann. Ricky then moved to Salford to study Band Musicianship under the legendary Aussie, Prof David King. "Sadly I didn't finish my course, as Manchester offered me other distractions!"

However, he has played with Sellers International, Hepworth and both Adelphi 'A' and 'B' Bands, which set him in good stead for returning to Campbeltown. Ricky is a Youth Development worker and also teaches the beginner members of Campbeltown Brass.
