Campbeltown Brass

Mark Good   Bass Trombone

Mark Good began playing the trombone when he was 8, choosing it because it looked the "coolest" instrument! He is also a self-taught drummer, playing in a local rock band.

He has been called upon to play both tenor and bass trombone in various solo, ensemble, brass banding and orchestral work. Mark is a member of the Campbeltown Brass Quintet, an ensemble which has been Scottish Champions on three consecutive occasions. Last year, he was principal bass trombone with NYBBS. He is also the bass trombonist with the Youth band and School Wind band and was Principal Bass trombone in the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra for two years.

Mark has enjoyed participating in solo competitions across the country and winning some along the way! He is the Rotary Club's 2004 "Most Promising Young Musician of the Year", being awarded the Norman Milne Memorial Trophy.

Mark is a student at RSAMD "Youthworks", (the junior academy of music), where he studies bass trombone under Alastair Sinclair of the RSNO.

In February 2007, Mark became the Scottish Youth Solo Champion, and is the 1st band member of Campbeltown Brass to win it since Black Dyke's Morvern Gilchrist won it in 1994.

Mark also hosts "The Band Show" on the local radio station, Argyll FM.
