We ended 2010 on a triumphant note, with the Junior Brass winning the Novice Section of the Scottish Youth Championships in Perth.

With a successful and experienced Senior band, an excelling Junior Band and a Beginners Band full of enthusiastic youngsters - Campbeltown Brass is continuing to build upon its successes aiming to be the best and to achieve the best. This was all made possible by the hard work and dedication of each member, from players to back room support, to families and friends, everyone played their part.

Clyde Brass

Clyde Brass is a new brass band initiative for players in the Glasgow area. Set up by, among others, Campbeltown’s own Mark Good, Clyde Brass aims to provide further playing opportunities for players after they leave school. Their own Facebook page explains:

“The band will be partly aimed at the 60% of players who stop playing after school and will provide a fun, yet productive band . . . a unique, exciting and relaxed project”.

Clyde Brass' first rehearsal will take place in Stow College on Tuesday 1 February. We wish them the best of luck in their new venture and look forward to watching them go from strength to strength.

Junior Band Movie Night

By way of thanks to all Junior band members for their hard work last year, Campbeltown Brass held its first Movie Night on Thursday 27 January. This event took place in the Community Centre and was well attended by members of Junior Band and Beginners Band, who all enjoyed the popcorn, juice and crisps, as well as learning how to train their dragons!

Thanks to everyone who helped out during the evening, with a special thanks to horn player Georgia Nicolson who did a fantastic job of helping to tidy up afterwards!

By popular demand, watch this space for details of the next movie night.
